Nelson's Dockyard is National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site on English Harbour on the south coast of Antiqua.
The park includes the Nelson's Dockyard, Shirley Heights, and Clarence House.
The Dockyards were set up by the British to service the navy and got their name from Admiral Horatio Nelson's stay between 1784 and 1787.
Many of the old buildings have been converted into inns, restaurants, gift shops, and a museum.
We visited on a warm day that was interspersed with quick, relatively heavy, rain showers that kept us investigating the grounds in depth.
In general, the grounds were well kept and crowded with visitors.
We arrived by rental car and found adequate free parking adjacent to the entrance.
There is a fee of $8 per adult for admittance to the park which also includes the other sites within the National Park.
