We arrived by ship in Helsinki in August of 2009.
We saw bits of the city as we drove through the area before exploring the center of town.
We visited the architecturally impressive Rock Church, Helsinki Cathedral, the Presidents Palace, Market Square, and the Sibelius Monument.
Our guide was very proud of her city and their "escape" from Russian domination.
She told us of their struggles to keep their youth at home, occupied and employed.
Late in the afternoon, we went to Central Station and caught an overnight train to Moscow.
