The Residenzplatz is a large forecourt between the archiepiscopal residences in Salzburg's Old Town built under Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau.
It is bordered by the New Residence with its carillon, the Salzburger Dom, the Old Residence, and townhouses.
The center of the square features the Residence Fountain which is considered by many as the most beautiful fountain in the city.
