Nordlingen is a town in the Donau-Ries district in Swabia, Bavaria, and is one of only three towns in Germany that still have completely intact city walls.
The city was built in the 15 million year old crater of a meteorite which left tons of micro-diamonds.
As one of our first stops in Germany in 1984, we stayed here in the Goldenes Lamm, a beautiful old-style inn.
We looked around town a bit, and then went to a local men's league basketball game for the evening.
I think that we must have been near a US military base because it seems some of the players were American.
