Fort Humbolt Historic State Park was a nice little surprise...
It is located just off highway 101 on the south end of town, but you would never know it.
High on a bluff above the highway, this little park is very well maintained and has some interesting exhibits.
The only remaining main buildings are the Hospital and the Doctor's House.
Still, this structures are open to the public and have some informative exhibits inside.
In addition to the fort structures, there is a section of the property that has a nice little lumbering museum.
There are many interesting lumber machines such as steam donkeys, a train, a shingle saw, and a huge slackline yarder.
