travel south america venezuela caracas palacio federal legislativo
ARCHITECT: LUCIANO URDANETA VARGAS (1872)

The Palacio Federal Legislativo, also known as the Capitolio, houses the National Assembly and the National Constitutional Assembly.
It was built by President Antonio Guzman Blanco southeast of Plaza Bolivar.
The white painted complex with a gold dome had a nice "clean" semi-contempory ambiance.
It was interesting to see the interior finishes and artwork.

We were on a cruise tour and it seemed that this was one of the few places we were allowed to walk around in central Caracas.
Whether this was for our safety or politically motivated to present a certain image was not clear.
