travel the caribbean st kitts and nevis basseterre around the city
Basseterre has a very colorful and lively commercial district once you get across Bay Road beyond the "Cruise Village" shops.
Walking up Fort Street from the Berkeley Memorial clock tower in "the Circus" you will find some interesting architecture and more of the feel of a real Caribbean town.
Every few feet along the way you will find the sidewalk torn up... a neat sand-filled hole with paving blocks piled next to it... and maybe a little yellow warning tape.
It could have been there a day or two, or a year or two, or ten... it has the feel of a relaxed deadline.
Just watch your step and enjoy the atmosphere.
