Gasthof Simony has great location on the lakefront in the middle of Hallstatt.
We first stayed here on our first visit to Hallstatt in 1991 and enjoyed the homey intimate feeling.
The structure is very old, the rooms small, and the floor creeks almost unbearably.
Still, we think of it with good memories and have rated it with this in mind...
In 2017, we booked two rooms months in advance. When we arrived, we learned that they had mixed up the reservations.
We had our original rooms for the first night, but the second night my son's family's room had to be changed to a smaller one.
Our hostess, Cladia, was very apologetic and did her best to make our stay comfortable.
She said we could take a refund or take advantage of the private lakefront garden next door that belonged to the owner.
We didn't realize how bad/small the second room was until the next day and by then, it was the manager's day off.
They lady in charge that day could not change the room rate that we had already paid, so she offered to give the kids free use of the traditional costumes they rented.
In the end, we took advantage of both the private swimming garden and the costumes.
