travel europe italy campania pompeii the stabian baths

The Stabian Baths date back to the 2nd century BC, are among the oldest known Roman baths, and are located off the via dell'Abbondanza featuring separate baths for both men and women.
There was a frigidarium for cold bathing in one room which, in turn led to the tepidarium for medium temperature baths, and then a calidarium for hot baths.
The heat was provided by a piping system in the walls and double floors that circulated the hot air coming from the furnaces and from mobile braziers.
