travel europe italy veneto burano dining trattoria gatto nero da ruiggero

Lynn and I had a very good lunch her at Al Gatto Nero on the patio.
She ordered linguini with clams and I had fritto misto pescatori, a fisherman's mixed grill of local fish.
The ambiance was nice and the food was well presented and tasted good.
The prices were not low.

Our multi-language cafe menu, I assume, was similar to others along the canal, Trattoria Al Gatto Nero da Ruggero, Burano, Veneto, Italy, 2013.
As you can see, especially with the Euro-Dollar exchange rate at that time, it was not an inexpensive lunch.

My order of fritto misto pescatori, fisherman's mixed grill of local fish, Trattoria Al Gatto Nero da Ruggero, Burano, Veneto, Italy, 2013.
I couldn't resist this order because it brought back memories of my 1984 trip to Venice.
We had been waiting for a train in the Venice station and I decided to use the rest of my pocket money for a quick lunch.
I sat down at the crowded counter restaurant in the station and ordered the best dish available for my limited funds.
It was a mixed grill... it was great... however, it was nothing like the one pictured above.
It too was grilled/fried fish, but it was served in a deep bowl and made up of small seafood like shrimp and other unidentifiable goodies.
