travel north america united states california carmel by the sea dining flying fish grill

We have eaten at the Flying Fish Grill three times during visits to Carmel.
It is located in the Carmel Plaza in a mostly "underground" basement location on the west side.
The interior is done nicely with Japanese-style natural dark wood details and indirect lighting.
On our first visit, lynn ordered Black Bean Halibut steamed in a paper pouch, and enjoyed it along with a decent artichoke.
On our second visit, we ordered the Seafood Clay Pot which was served mostly raw and we cooked it over a burner sunken into the center of our table.
On our third visit with friends, Lynn had scallops and gulf shrimp and I had our only poor meal... tempura and a side of artichoke.
We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food, although Carmel-expensive, was fresh and well presented...
