ARCHITECT: UNIDENTIFIED

Burg Stahleck, "impregnable castle on a crag," is a rebuilt and well-maintained 12dth-century fortified castle on the hill above Bacharach and the Rhine River.
It is now functioning as a hostel and has done so since it was made such under Hitler.
Even if you are not staying there, you can walk or drive (no parking available) up the hill and walk around the grounds to see the castle.
The view itself is worth the walk.
